Most Whistleblowers Would Prefer to Report Internally
June 05, 2012

When it comes to reporting wrongdoing, whistleblowers prefer to report internally. Fifty-six percent of employees who report misconduct bring the report to someone they know and trust inside the company, according to a recent study released by the Ethics Resource Center (ERC), “Inside the Mind of a Whistleblower.”

Spending is Not the Issue
April 01, 2012

Municipal services cost money and you either get them from commercial ratables or property taxes. Everyone, including myself, criticizes our elected officials but few offer meaningful solutions to the problems. We need to identify sources of revenue whether they be user fees, billboards or commercial properties. (Read More)

Public workers, sick days and pensions.
February 11, 2012

As residents and taxpayers in New Jersey we are in one heck of a mess. More so for those of us in suburban and rural towns like Jackson. This started me thinking as to just what these credentials meant. After all, they are used to gain access to our children's school events.

My first step was to search whether there were occasions where these nouveau-journalists might have behaved badly. Almost immediately I was immersed in the sordid details of a sports photographer in Indiana who was found to have images of children from 2 to 13 years of age in his possession. The issue was not the images, but what they depicted, as was detailed in this news item.

A Budgetary Comment
June 29, 2011

As recently reported, it appears that Jackson municipal officials have finalized a plan to minimize planned layoffs although seven employees will be laid off. It would appear that the Mayor and Township Council, with the cooperation of three unions, have found a way to reduce the budget appropriations from the proposed $39.08 million to a proposed $38.58 million, a reduction of over $500,000. A significant portion of these funds were obtained by recalculating salaries and benefits based on the June headcount (Read More)
